To me, summer in Rhode Island means Iggy’s Chowder and Clamcakes. I make it to Iggy’s in Oakland Beach, Warwick at least 6 times over the summer season. Waiting in line for 20 minutes to order and another 20 minutes waiting for your food, it can take up my afternoon noon in the summer months because I savor every bite of my food while enjoying a great view of Narragansett Bay. The waiting just makes it taste so much better!

There is a reason why there is a long line at Iggy’s in the summer months ! The food is consistently fresh and tastes exactly the same on every visit whether it’s summer or winter, year after year. You can dine inside in their small self service dining room in the summer or winter months.

A few years back the old Iggy’s building was torn down and replaced with a beautiful new building. Just peaking into thier kitchen makes me jealous because they did such a great job in there. Iggy’s is a very clean operation, as a former chef & restaurant owner I can see the love they put into their business. Iggy’s is sure something thier owners can be proud of.

I got a craving for Iggy’s a few weeks back. With a foot of snow on the ground I headed down to Oakland Beach, yes they are open year round! There is something about Oakland Beach in the winter. No tourists, nobody on the beach, but one thing that doesn’t changed is the great food at Iggy’s. The food is just as good and fresh tasting in mid winter as it is in the summer.

Iggy’s Doughboys & Chowder House has some money saving coupons available on their website to save you a few bucks on your next visit. They also recently added a gift basket section to their website as well. Now you can send the gift of Iggy’s to anyone you know.
